A witness saw John Perrault, age 76, approach two young girls while they were waiting for the bus and ask them to get into his car, Haverhill Police said. Perrault was ultimately unsuccessful and drove away.
The school district was notified and a subsequent search of all bus stops was launched. Perrault was later identified as the suspect and was arrested on Wednesday, Oct. 12, police said.
Perrault was held on a $100,000 bail, police said. He was arraigned on one charge of enticement and operating a motor vehicle with a revoked license in Haverhill District Court on Thursday, police added.
